Chateaus, villas and Provencial life

I would love to spend quality time in the French country and have a home base at a chateau or villa. The fantastic problem is that there are so many gorgeous options. Here are a few that I'm in love with already.

This 5 bedroom/5 bathroom rehabbed farmhouse is idyllic with a heated pool, vast grounds, chef on demand and gorgeous views. A little further out from civilization than the other options - about an hour to any major sites including Avignon, Orange or the Southern Coast. It is very affordable as the rental cost from May 1- July 3 is only $3,375 for a week (that does not include any extras - cook, etc.).

Maison Achard. This is my favorite thus far for location, price and charm. The view alone is worth a week's time. Only two minutes walk from Oppede le Vieux, one of the oldest and most stunning villages in the Luberon. It has a private pool, gardens and a terrace. $2,500 Euros for a week if April or May rental.

Chateau Sauvage. Located in the Rhone-Alps area of Provence. This one is more rustic and isolated in the woods, but equally stunning views! It is huge with 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and comes with everything - even a disco room! $3500 Euros prior to June 1 for a week, must be rented for a week.

Chateau Da Baloigne. The chateau has 6 bedrooms and is set within the ruins of a medieval castle with some parts of the original dungeon dating back to the 12th century. The views in every direction are just stunning surrounded by pine trees with the river running below. The entire estate is protected by the government as a Historic Monument. The property can be rented for 4 days ($2,000), 5 days ($2,500), or a week ($3,000). You can go horseback riding or hiking around the property.

Sleeps 12, 6bed/3bath. Located on edge of Burgundy. Close to Roanne with world class restaurants. Nearby to Auvergne and Saone et Loire (southern Burgundy), the village of La Pacaudière lies in the Loire region of the northern Rhone-Alpes. The chateau is perfectly situated just outside this village of La Pacaudière, in beautiful, classic French countryside with many other smaller, medieval villages to be found along the winding country lanes. Prime wine country. Close to Lyon and can get to Avignon by train. Only $2653 euros for the week.
