Roman Holiday

In my excitement about this epic trip I watched the classic film - Roman Holiday. It was shot on site in Rome and features some of the most classic views of city life and architecture. Here is a fun little video showing locations from the film then and now. I'm sure we could go on a hunt and find most of these ourselves while we are there.

As you can see, one of the most charming part of Rome is that it is indeed the eternal city - very little has changed since this film was shot. In fact little has changed in some areas for thousands of years! It is always humbling and exciting to walk among places that have existed long before and will exist long after any of us. The closest thing we have in the U.S. to something this long standing are indigenous ruins, Redwood forests or the Rocky mountains - but nothing from our American culture even comes close.
