Fabulous world class art all just outside of our front door. Here is the list of places that I want to visit while in Rome and soak up all the luxurious art in person.

1. The Borghese Museum. One of my favorite spaces as a gallery. It is an old home of a Cardinal and filled with Bernini sculptures, Caravaggio paintings, and other gems. Limited reservations are allowed every two hours, so it is never too crowded. It is couched on the hilltop overlooking the Borghese Gardens - a tree-filled and hilly slice of beautifully cultivated land in the middle of Rome. I think we should go to this one May 8 - we'll need to reserve in advance, so if everyone is good with that idea I'll book the tickets online.

2. The Vatican Museum. I've been there before, but I still haven't seen some of the Raphael collection pieces- although I would gladly skip the endless miles of tapestries. And although Michaelangelo is not my favorite, it is overwhelming to stare at the Sistine Chapel.

3. The National Museum, Palazzo Massimo. There are four branches of The National Museum, but the Palazzo Massimo houses one of the largest collections of ancient art. I have never been here before and I'm curious.

4. Churches!! So much of the most beautiful art in the city is housed in churches. Linda's favorite piece by Caravaggio, The Calling of St. Matthew, is very close to our hotel...so that is definitely on the list.
